L-Arginine for Men: What 10 mg in HoneyBoost Means Next to Trial Doses
L-arginine is an amino acid, and HoneyBoost lists 10 mg of it in each gummy. Trials in men with mild to moderate erection trouble used 1,500 to 5,000 mg a day, so the label sits at least 150 times lower. Arginine can also drop blood pressure too low with nitrates, so ask a pharmacist first.

The basics
What is L-arginine, and how much is in HoneyBoost?
L-arginine is an amino acid, a building block of protein. HoneyBoost prints it as plain “L-Arginine, 10 mg” per gummy, with no daily value established.
The label does not say “L-arginine HCl”. The seller's FAQ page does, and the two do not match. We print what the label prints. Ten milligrams is about 0.24% of the 4.2 g gummy.
| Name on the label | L-Arginine |
|---|---|
| What it is | Amino acid the body uses to make proteins and nitric oxide |
| Place on the label | 7 of 7 lines, in label order |
| Amount per 1-gummy serving | 10 mg per gummy as L-arginine |
| Daily Value | Not established |
| Amount used in research | 1,500 to 5,000 mg a day in trials of men with mild to moderate erection trouble |
| How the label compares | 10 mg is 150 times below 1,500 mg and 500 times below 5,000 mg |
| Strength of evidence | Mixed: small gains in some trials at gram doses; a 2024 review found most supplements ineffective for erection trouble; no trial tested 10 mg |
| Marketed or traditional use | Sold as a 'blood flow' amino acid |
| Main caution | Mayo lists nausea, belly pain, diarrhea, bloating, gout, allergy and asthma worsening. Arginine can drop blood pressure too low with nitrates and sildenafil. Not recommended after a heart attack. |
What studies found
Does L-arginine work for erectile dysfunction?
At gram doses, some trials say yes, a little. A 2019 meta-analysis of 10 trials in 540 men with mild to moderate erection trouble found arginine at 1,500 to 5,000 mg improved erection scores against placebo or no treatment (Rhim 2019, Arginine for ED (meta-analysis)).
The same review noted side effects in 8.3% of arginine users against 2.3% on placebo, none severe, and that doses and trial lengths varied. Desire scores did not change.
A 2024 network meta-analysis of 15 trials in 1,000 men took a cooler view. It found general ineffectiveness among most nutraceuticals, with L-arginine among the few that looked somewhat useful, especially next to prescription pills (Barbonetti 2024, Nutraceuticals for ED (network meta-analysis)). Those were men with diagnosed erection trouble, not healthy men, and no trial tested HoneyBoost.
Label vs study
Is 10 mg of L-arginine enough?
Next to trial doses, no. Ten milligrams is 150 times below 1,500 mg and 500 times below 5,000 mg.
We found no study of 10 mg. Because gram amounts were what the trials tested, nothing here supports a result from the gummy's amount.
| Measure | Amount a day | Gap from the label |
|---|---|---|
| HoneyBoost, per gummy | 10 mg | Baseline |
| Lowest trial amount | 1,500 mg | 150 times more |
| Highest trial amount | 5,000 mg | 500 times more |
The label vs studies page puts all seven lines in one table.

What are the side effects of L-arginine, and does it interact with nitrates?
Mayo Clinic lists nausea, belly pain, diarrhea, bloating, gout, headache, allergic reactions and worse asthma. It is not recommended after a recent heart attack (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine).
The main caution is medicine. Mayo says arginine can lower blood pressure too much with nitrates, blood pressure drugs and sildenafil, and may affect potassium-sparing diuretics, blood thinners and diabetes medicine (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). Nitrates and erection pills are a known dangerous pair, which is why a pharmacist should see your list (StatPearls, PDE5 inhibitors (nitrates contraindicated)).
- Nitrates or any erection medicine: ask first.
- Blood pressure, diabetes medicine or a blood thinner: ask first.
- A heart attack in the past: ask a cardiologist first.
Those amounts apply to gram doses; we found no source on 10 mg. The HoneyBoost label still says not to use it with other medications or a medical condition.
Chest pain or heart attack signs: call 911 (CDC, Heart attack signs). An erection lasting over 4 hours is an emergency (Mayo Clinic, Priapism). Keep taking prescribed medicine. Erection trouble is worth a doctor's visit because causes are often treatable (NIDDK, Causes of ED (incl. medicines, mood)).
FAQ
HoneyBoost questions people ask
What does L-arginine do for men?
L-arginine is an amino acid used to build protein. In trials, 1,500 to 5,000 mg a day was studied in men with erection trouble. HoneyBoost has 10 mg a gummy, and no trial tested that amount.
How much L-arginine is in HoneyBoost?
Each gummy lists 10 mg of L-arginine. That is at least 150 times below the lowest trial amount we found, which was 1,500 mg a day in men with erection trouble.
Is L-arginine safe to take with nitrates?
Not without asking first. Mayo Clinic says arginine can lower blood pressure too much with nitrates and sildenafil. Show your medicine list to a doctor or pharmacist before use.
What are L-arginine side effects?
Mayo lists nausea, belly pain, diarrhea, bloating, gout, headache, allergic reactions and worse asthma. It is not recommended after a recent heart attack. The sources describe gram doses.
Is L-arginine the same as L-arginine HCl?
No. HCl is a salt form. The HoneyBoost label prints plain L-arginine, while the seller's FAQ page says L-arginine HCl. The label wins, so we print the label.
What is the usual L-arginine dosage for erection trouble?
Trials of men with mild to moderate erection trouble used 1,500 to 5,000 mg a day. Mayo gives no dose. Ask a doctor before any amount, since erection trouble has causes to rule out.
